John Street Church strives to be a community
that faithfully responds to Jesus who said, “Let the little children
come to me.” We consider traffic jams of strollers
at our front door and impromptu musical concerts by our children
to be blessings from God.
As a United Methodist Church, we believe that Jesus invites
little children to come to him through the Sacrament of Holy
Baptism. Because
baptism is the initiation rite through which an individual enters the Christian
community, we normally celebrate baptism during the Sunday morning worship
service. To discuss the baptism of your child, please
contact Pastor Jason.
God’s children of all ages are always welcome at John
Street Church’s Sunday morning worship service. For
parents and young children who want a Christian experience
designed with age appropriate needs and desires in mind, however,
we happily support the following ministries in our congregation.
Children’s Church meets during the Sunday morning worship
service. Our Children’s Church teachers and assistants lovingly care
for the children in an environment that nurtures their young faith through stories,
crafts, music, and games.
Sunday School also meets during the Sunday morning
worship service. Sunday School teachers follow a curriculum
designed to help elementary and middle school children grow
in faith at their own pace with activities designed for their
developmental abilities.
